Initial Skills

Warhammer is principally a skill based system; what your character can do is dependent on what skills they have. When you first create your character, you get a certain number of initial skills. The number of skills is determined by rolling a D4, and adjusting this number depending on the age of the character relative to their race. I usually say that the character should have at least one initial skill. For example a human character has the following adjustments:

• 16-20 : 0
• 21-30 : +1
• 31-40 : +2
• 41-50 : +1
• 51-60 : 0
• 61-70 : -1
• 71-80 : -2

When you have got the number of initial skills, some of these might be chosen already depending on your race. Any that are left are rolled for randomly on the chart for your chosen class and race. When you chose your career, you will get some more skills.
